The Group's reviewers, supported by staff at the editorial base, produce systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials and controlled clinical trials of interventions for:

1. the primary and secondary prevention of fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries of the appendicular skeleton and associated soft tissues, and the prevention of complications or adverse effects of treatment;
2. the management (treatment and rehabilitation) of people with fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries of the appendicular skeleton and associated soft tissues.

We are happy to take on other reviews in the musculoskeletal field which fall into the above scope, or that of other Groups after contact and negotiation with other Review Groups.

Duplication will be avoided by liaison with other entities with whom we have an established area of overlap, such as: the Anaesthesia Group; the Injuries Group; the Neuromuscular Diseases Group; the Musculoskeletal Group and affiliated sub-groups (Osteoporosis Sub-group and the Soft-tissue Rheumatism Sub-group); the Pain, Palliative Care and Supportive Care Group; the Peripheral Vascular Diseases Group, and the Wounds Group.
